Thermoforming basics involve heating the plastic to be formed to its optimum thermoforming temeprature and keeping the plastic at its optimum thermoforming temperature for a given period of time know as the soak time.
When the plastic is ready to be thermoformed it is then swiftly manipulated into a new shape using a variety of techniques, including; positioning the plastic in a male & female mold or by pulling the plastic around a former and holding it in position until it has cooled.
We are able to perform the two basic requirements of thermoforming.
a. Production of the thermoforming mold or tool
b. Performing the thermoforming operation
Our CNC capabilities allow us to produce in-house both 2d and 3d molds or forming tools in These tools or molds can be produced in wood, plastic, or other materials dependant upon the requirements of the finished component.
We operate a number of thermoforming ovens which we use to heat the plastics to their optimum thermoforming temperatures.
